Hanoi Heritage Train: A Must-see Experience
Contents
Launched on August 19, 2025, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the Hanoi Heritage Train – also known as The Hanoi Train – has quickly become a unique railway tourism product attracting a large number of domestic and international tourists. With its luxurious two-story design inspired by the five gates of Thang Long (Hanoi), the train offers a completely new way to explore the culture, history, and scenery of the capital city. Here, we will reveal all the useful tips, from booking tickets and experiencing the train to nearby attractions, to make your trip even more fulfilling.
I. Learn about the Hanoi Heritage Train
As soon as the Hanoi Heritage Train began operating, it became not only one of the most anticipated tours but also marked a creative development in Vietnam’s tourism industry, transforming railway journeys, initially just a local route, into an adventurous experience awaited by tourists worldwide. With the permission of the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR), the one-of-a-kind train was designed with 10 carriages, five of which were themed around the five legendary gates of Hanoi: Cau Den Gate, Quan Chuong Gate, Cau Giay Gate, Cho Dua Gate, and Dong Mac Gate. Here, these historically significant gates, with their remnants of the ancient Thang Long Citadel, serve as living evidence of Hanoi’s thousand-year history.
